Malachite and Banded Agate Fob with huge hallmarks
Malachite and Banded Agate Fob with huge hallmarks
Full Hallmarks for 9ct gold London 1979
A weighty 12.55g!
A fob is the name given to the chain attached to a pocket watch, and later became the term used to describe the weighted charms that were worn on the end of the chain. These charms became ostentatious displays of wealth and status, the heavier the gold, and the more ornate, the higher status the item. In this way the fob charm became as much of a symbol of wealth and status as the watch itself. This gorgeous weighty and ornate jewelled example has large gold hallmarks. One side banded Agate, the other Malachite; both crystals are associated with wealth and abundance. Transformed into a powerful Wealth and entitlement to wealth, this is not for the shy. It commands attention! This is from Kate’s private collection.
