I bought a collection of these antique solid silver talismans from one of my favourite dealers in Catalunian antiquities in Barcelona. We have five altogether, each quite different. Every one is over 150 years old and were originally worn by women to invoke the protective power of the Black Madonna. Catalonia is a state with a fierce history of resistance to colonial violence, and the Madonna of Montserrat is the patron saint of Catalonia. Via Fora! (Out to the Streets!)
