Pentacle of Protection
Pentacle of Protection
9ct gold 1.54g full hallmarks Birmingham 1966
The pentacle is one of the most widely recognised symbols of protection and of magic. Used in almost every spiritual and ritual tradition at some point in history, the pentacle is now primarily used by wiccans and pagans to symbolise the five elements of earth, air, fire, water and the spirit.
The first pentacles on texts are found in Grimoires from the 1500s - books of magickal ritual instruction. But the five pointed star can be found in Ancient Greece and as early as 15000 bce. Key of Solomon; as Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa summarises it, their use was to "fore-know all future things, & command whole nature, have power over devils, and Angels, and do miracles."
Pentacles were used ‘to binde, exterminate, and drive away evil spirits, and alluring the good spirits, and reconciling them unto us.’Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy (c. 1565).
This true magickal talisman is made from a vintage solid gold pentagram from 1966, cast in Birmingham, England.
